DLA Piper advised MetaVC Capital, LLC (MetaVC) in the final closing of MetaVC Partners, LLC, a US$62 million fund that will invest in early-stage, hard-tech metamaterials startup companies.
MetaVC Partners is an early-stage venture fund investing in startup companies that use metamaterials – a broad class of manufactured materials engineered to control and manipulate energy, such as radio waves, light, and sound – for applications in renewable energy, high-performance computing, imaging and next generation wireless communications and sensors.
“It was a privilege to advise MetaVC on the closing of its US$62 million fundraise,” said Yoni Tuchman, the DLA Piper partner who led the fund formation team. “We are grateful to MetaVC for entrusting us with its debut fund formation, allowing us to showcase our capabilities representing emerging managers raising capital from institutional LPs that are among the world’s most sophisticated.”
“Yoni and the DLA team were fantastic,” said Chris Alliegro and Conrad Burke, Founding Managing Partners of MetaVC. “They had our backs completely and provided us with skilled counsel, strategic advice, and market insights. The DLA team was instrumental in getting MetaVC to this milestone closing.”
In addition to Tuchman (Los Angeles), the team included partner Aalok Virmani (Chicago); counsel James Killmond (Palo Alto); and associates Christine Wilson (Miami) and David Pennant (Philadelphia).
